Daughters for Zion Prayer Points – September 2026 

Dear Daughter for Zion,

As September begins, summer gives way to autumn, and changing colors display the glory of God. This is a special season as we enter a holy time—the Jewish High Holy Days recorded in Leviticus 23:23-44. Rosh HaShanah (Feast of Trumpets), Yom Kippur, and Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) are the final three of the seven Feasts of the Lord. God’s calendar guides our understanding. 

Rosh HaShanah (Feast of Trumpets) means “head of the year” and marks the beginning of the Hebrew New Year 5787, counted from the day of creation. Jewish tradition teaches that God examines every person’s deeds, judging what is good and evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:14) On Rosh HaShanah, He opens the Book of Life and begins inscribing the names of the righteous for a blessed year. This holy day honors God as the Judge of all the earth. Rosh HaShanah begins at sundown on September 11 and ends at nightfall on September 13.

Yom Kippur is the holiest day on the Hebrew calendar. It is the Day of Atonement. Jews are instructed to fast and devote the day to introspection and repentance. (Leviticus 23:26-32) On Yom Kippur, God inscribes the final names in the Book of Life; at the day’s end, the book is closed and sealed. Yom Kippur begins at sundown on September 20 and ends at nightfall on September 21. 

Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles, is a celebration of the year’s final harvest and a remembrance of God’s miraculous protection of the children of Israel on their journey from Egypt to the Promised Land. In the wilderness, they lived in temporary shelters. To remember this, Jewish families build a sukkah, or temporary shelter, outside their homes. During the holiday, they eat meals—and sometimes sleep—in the sukkah, and welcoming family, friends, and guests is central to the celebration. Sukkot begins at sundown on September 25 and ends at nightfall on October 3.

The U.S. State Department is directing nearly all of its global missions to emphasize to local governments the importance of protecting their Jewish communities during the upcoming High Holidays, according to a diplomatic cable. 

I am praying that each Daughter for Zion will be led by the Holy Spirit into a deeper revelation of God’s holiness during these Fall Feasts. (Leviticus 11:44, II Corinthians 7:1) 

Prayer for the High Holy Days 

  1. Pray for peace and safety for all Jews during the High Holy Days. Psalm 3:3 
  1. Pray Jews will experience God’s presence and His joy as they celebrate these special holy days. Jeremiah 29:13 

Good News from Colombia and Venezuela 

Colombia announced plans to reopen and move its embassy to Jerusalem as part of a sweeping foreign policy shift and the restoration of full diplomatic ties with Israel. This followed the election of President Abelardo de la Espriella, who took office in August.  

The new government also suspended plans for a Palestinian diplomatic mission in Ramallah and moved to withdraw support for South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court. In addition, Colombia has recognized Israel’s right of sovereignty over the Golan Heights, becoming only the second nation besides the United States to do so.  

Venezuela and Israel officially agreed to resume consular relations and establish a formal coordination channel in August, ending a 17-year diplomatic freeze, and marking significant steps toward normalization. Ties were severed in January 2009 when then-President Hugo Chavez expelled Israel’s ambassador in protest over Israel defending itself against attacks from Gaza.  

Venezuela recently suffered devastating earthquakes. Israel sent rescue and medical teams to assist with the relief and recovery efforts. Since then, Venezuela has renewed contact with Israel.   

Prayer Points for Colombia and Venezuela Restored Relationship with Israel 

  1. Pray for Colombia to follow through with opening its embassy in Jerusalem. James 5:12 
  2. Pray for God’s blessing and favor on the Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella. Genesis 12:3 
  3. Pray as Colombia keeps its promise of renewed diplomatic ties with Israel, the nation will prosper and experience revival. 
  4. Pray for Venezuela to move to full diplomatic ties with Israel. Numbers 24:9  
    1. Pray there will be an exchange of ambassadors. 
    2. Pray Venezuela will open its embassy in Jerusalem. 
  5. Pray for more Middle Eastern countries to join the Abraham Accords!
  6. Pray for more nations to move their embassies to Jerusalem, the eternal capital of Israel. This will invoke the blessing of God on the nations that choose to respect Israel by recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.    

Update on Former Hostages 

Nearly a year has passed since the last hostages were released from the nightmare of Hamas captivity. Let us continue praying for their physical and emotional healing and remember the bereaved families whose loved ones did not return home alive. 

There are also two beautiful milestones to celebrate in the lives of former hostages: 

Former hostages Sapir Cohen and Sasha Troufanov were married on July 5, 2026, in a moving ceremony attended by Israeli President Isaac Herzog and several former hostages. President Herzog said, “We prayed for your return, we were moved to tears when you came back home, and this evening we were privileged to rejoice together with you and to bless you under the chuppah on your joyous day.” 

Former Gaza hostage Elkana Bohbot and his wife, Rivka, joyfully announced the birth of their second child, a baby daughter, on August 28, 2026. 

In an Instagram post, Bohbot shared a hospital photo with his wife and newborn, along with a passage from Psalms expressing gratitude to God. 

Bohbot, 37, was abducted by Hamas during the October 7, 2023, massacre at the Nova music festival near Re’im. He endured 738 days in captivity in tunnels under Gaza before his release. Since returning home, he has continued his recovery and published a memoir, 738 Days in Hamas Captivity, recounting his survival. 

The couple announced the pregnancy in April 2026, with Rivka writing “our story is not yet over; it continues to grow.” She said it was time to rebuild, heal, and laugh again without guilt. 

Prayer Points for Former Hostages 

  1. Pray for their physical and emotional healing. Psalm 107:20 
  1. Pray for financial provision for all medical and psychological therapy that are needed. Psalm 84:11 
  1. Pray for strength and endurance for families that are supporting them. Psalm 73:26
     
  2. Pray for comfort and healing for bereaved families. Psalm 34:18, Isaiah 61:3 

Prayer Focus for Israel 

  1.  Pray against assassination plots targeting Prime Minister Netanyahu and his family! Psalm 46:1, Psalm 91:10-16
  2. Pray for Israel’s election for members of the Knesset and for the Prime Minister on October 27. Pray God’s will be done! Proverbs 29:2 
     
  3. Pray for the IDF as they continue to defend their country against the terror of Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, the Houthis in Yemen, and all terror organizations funded by Iran. Psalm 121:4, Joshua 1:9 

Prayer for the US/Israel Relationship 

  1. Pray against assassination plots targeting President Trump and his family! (Both Trump and Netanyahu families have been targets of Iranian assassination plots!) Psalm 46:1, Psalm 91:10-16 

  2. Pray for the midterm elections for the United States House of Representatives and Senate. Pray for the election of members who support and stand with Israel!!!  Genesis 12:3, Isaiah 60:12 

  3. Pray against antisemitism in all forms in our educational system. Pray for the removal of those who support it and teach it! Genesis 12:3 (Usually only the blessing part of this scripture is quoted, but the second part MUST be heeded by those who hate Israel.) 

Thank you for your continuing faithful prayers for Israel. They do not go unnoticed by our Father who reigns in all the earth. Here is a promise from Him to you, “The Lord is far from the wicked, but He HEARS the prayers of the righteous,” (Proverbs 15:29) You are a valued member of the Prayer Army of Daughters for Zion.
